Allene Burford Ferguson Crockett went to be with her Lord on April 27, 2018 at home at the age of 106. Allene, known to her grandchildren and many others as Neenie, was born November 24, 1911 at Independence, MS to Molly Johnson Burford and Mitchell Alexander Burford. She was the youngest of ten children all of whom predeceased her. Allene married Harold Lavern Ferguson on December 25, 1930 and they were parents of two children, Peggy Ann Ferguson Phillips (Gene) and Harold (Hal) Ferguson, Jr. (Frances) who survive her. She is also survived by five grandchildren; Patti Phillips Sitek (Rick), Emily Phillips Salmon, Vern Ferguson (Kellie), Chris Ferguson (Amy), and Julie Ferguson Bergeron (Joe); ten great-grandchildren and two great-great grandsons. She was preceded in death by her first grandchild, Perry Eugene Phillips, Jr. in 2017.
Allene was a resident of Senatobia, MS most of her life. After the death of her husband in 1971, she later married Joseph Crockett who predeceased her. She is survived by two step-children, Ann McWilliams (Jody) and Kitty Crockett.
As a devoted wife and mother, she enjoyed spending time with family and friends, especially cooking their favorite dishes. Her grandchildren treasured the visits spent with her during summers and holidays. Allene was a member of First Baptist Church Senatobia where she sang in the choir until her eyesight prevented her from participating and was an active member of the WMU. She was also a member of The Coterie Club and Garden Club. Neenie loved music, flowers, and Ole Miss sports, but her favorite pastime was playing bridge and she rarely missed a Saturday afternoon playing with her friends.
The family wishes to thank Vera Taylor and Dorothea Williams for the loving care they provided for her in her home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to First Baptist Church Senatobia Building Fund or Northwest Mississippi Community College.
