Cameron Kyle Blount

Cameron Kyle Blount, 50, of Independence, MS, passed away November 13, 2018 at Baptist Memorial Hospital DeSoto. He was born and raised in Independence, MS, where he graduated from Independence High School. Cameron went on to play baseball at Northwest Mississippi Community College then the University of Arkansas at Little Rock where he met the love of his life, Kenda Malene Davis. They made their home in Independence, MS. He was able to touch the lives of all the people he worked with through his careers at Northwest Mississippi Community College as Athletic Director and Intramural Sports Coordinator and at Belhaven University as Director of Enrollment for the midsouth. Cameron was an active member of Mt Zion Baptist Church where he was able to help countless people know and love the Lord. Cameron loved the Lord, his family, his church and was proud to be from Independence, MS.

Cameron was preceded in death by his grandparents, Percy and Modena Scruggs, Howard and Hazel Blount, Aunt Martha and Uncle Raymond Scruggs, and brother Michael Ellis Blount. He is survived by his wife, Kenda Davis Blount of Independence, MS, his parents Ellis and Lynda Blount of Independence, MS; and his three sons, Kyle Avery Blount, Michael Cayman Blount and Kenzee Steven Blount of Independence, MS; and his mother and father-in-law Steve and Linda Caldwell of Garland, TX.

The family request that memorials be sent to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

Pallbearers for the service are Jimmy Blount, Wayne Blount, Rod Cory, Carey Freeze, Hugh Freeze, Dale Geeslin, Tommy Shearer, Pat Sullivan and Richie Tillman. Honorary Pallbearers are Bill Blount, Mark Carson, Michael Carson, Lloyd Evans, Vince Ewing, Charlie Golden, Chris Jamison, Chris Shaw, Zach Treadway, David Williams, Phil Wooten and TA Wooten.
