Chester B. Howell, of Harmontown, MS, went to his heavenly home July 2, 2018 at the age of 85. Chester was born on Sept. 3, 1932 in Moscow, TN to Jim and Daise Howell. He served his country in the United States Army and fought in the Korean War. He married his wife, Maudie, on Feb. 5, 1955 in Hernando, MS. They later moved to Peoria, IL where he started his own plumbing business in 1958. In 1968, he and his wife moved to Harmontown, MS with their 5 children and bought the Holiday Lodge and Wyatt’s Crossing. Chester and Maudie ran both local businesses, all the while Chester continued his plumbing business up until retirement. Chester was active in his community through the years. He coached softball, baseball and basketball for kids and adults. He is survived by his wife of 63 years Maudie Lee Feathers Howell; daughters, Edell Bennett (Victor) and Betty Taylor (Barney); sons, Chester Lee “C.L.” Howell (Sharnee), Eddie Howell (Wanda) and Belden Howell (Kay); sister, Vernell Gandy of Peoria, IL; brother, Joe Howell of Washington, IL; 10 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Jimmie Lee Howell and John Howell. Memorials may be sent to the charity of your choice.
