Gerald Rushing, 68, of Senatobia, MS died in his home following a brief illness. He was surrounded by friends and family who loved and cared for him. Gerald served in the Marine Corp as Lance Corporal during the Vietnam War. He returned stateside to nurture his love of the land pursuing a life in farming. Later he had a career in truck driving.

Gerald had a passion for vintage cars and enjoyed restoring them as a pastime. His favorite was a lime green Baracuda, admired by many.

He leaves his son, Gerald Wayne Rushing, Jr. (Chip), a granddaughter, Chloe Murphy, and a god-daughter, Kelly Mangrum Chambers. He also leaves his partner and soulmate, Coral Smith who cared for his every need in life and death. His family legacy will be carried on by a sister, Norma Rushing Graham of Jackson, MS, a special nephew, Ralph Graham of Como, MS and a brother Max Rushing of Looxahoma, MS. Gerald also leaves a host of nieces and nephews as well as many friends.

Gerald was preceded in death by his wife, Debby Burns Rushing, his parents, Dave and Selma Rushing, his three brothers, Thomas Rushing, James Rushing, and David Rushing. He is also preceded in death by a sister, Imogene Rushing Terry. His maternal grandparents were Hugh and Leona Thornton. His paternal grandparents were Thomas Jefferson and Mary Elizabeth Rushing.

Pall Bearers will be Tim Culver, Bill Burns, Jimmy Craft, Matt Cushman, Jason Graham, Rick Chambers, Howard Sledge, and Jason Stull.

Honorary Pall Bearers will be Karl Limberg, Floyd Brewer, Lynn White, Roy Williams, Mike Mabry, Ralph Graham, Bo Graham, and Cole Graham.

The officiant will be Rev. Sherry Horton.

Pate-Jones Funeral Home of Senatobia is in charge of arrangements. Visitation will be Tuesday, December 12 from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. A memorial celebrating the life of Mr. Rushing will be held on Wednesday, December 13 at 1:00 p.m. A military service of committal will follow at the Senatobia Memorial Cemetery.

Special thanks and recognition is extended to the entire staff of Southern Care Hospice in Southaven, MS. The family appreciates the personal attentiveness and genuine concern of his nurse Traci Cowan who gave Mr. Rushing excellent medical care.
