James "Whit" Whitworth

James "Whit" Whitworth, 90, of Independence, MS passed away November 22, 2019 at Baptist Memorial Hospital Oxford. He was a veteran having served in the Air Force and worked for the United States Postal Service. He is survived by his wife, Sue Whitworth of Independence, MS; daughters, Barbara Sue Shearer of Memphis, TN and Deitra McClarty of Oxford, MS; sons, Randy Whitworth (Donna) of Lakeland, FL, Tim Whitworth of Independence, MS and Gary Whitworth (Sharon) of Independence, MS; sister, Nona Fay Allen of Clinton, MS; brother, Carl Winston Whitworth  of Lexington, KY; 9 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Toye B. and Alcie Whitworth; son, Martin Howard Whitworth and brother Toye B. Whitworth, Jr. Mr. Whitworth was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church.
