Judy Lowrie Obituary

Judy D. Lowrie, 72, of Hernando and formerly of Senatobia, MS passed away May 20, 2019 at Baptist Memorial Hospital DeSoto. She is survived by her husband, Bobby Lowrie of Hernando, MS; daughter, Lesley Beavers of Hernando, MS; sons, Tony Lowrie (Ginger) of Hernando, MS and J.B. Lowrie (Jennifer) of Senatobia, MS; brother, Bill Dunaway (Mary Lee) of Pickwick, TN; sisters-in-law, Linda Carlisle (Richard) of Fort Smith, AR and Gloria Ward (Hubert) of Sardis, MS; brothers-in-law, Dayton Williams of Senatobia, MS, Billy Schoggen of Sarah, MS, Joe Lowrie (Alpha) of Greenwood, AR and Donnie Lowrie (Belinda) of Senatobia, MS; grandchildren, Anna Clark (Dan), Alex Beavers, Austin Beavers, Blake Lowrie, Laney Lowrie, Aiden Brunetti and Elizabeth Anne Brunetti and great grandchildren Jackson Clark, Liam Clark and Elizabeth Clark.  She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Anne Dunaway, and sisters-in-law, Peggy Schoggen and Barbara Williams.

Judy graduated from Senatobia High School in 1964.  Following graduation, she attended Northwest Mississippi Community College.  She married Bobby on October 3, 1969.  This year would have marked 50 years of marriage.  Together they lived in Senatobia for close to 30 years before moving to Hernando. Judy started her career at Chromcraft where she worked for over 20 years and ended her career at Williams, Pitts & Beard as a bookkeeper before retiring in 2018.

Judy's favorite word was “joy”, which is fitting since it perfectly defines who she was.  She had a contagious personality and was a compassionately strong mother (grand and great), sister, daughter and friend.  She was a faithful and long-time member of Senatobia Church of Christ where she loved to sing.  She also enjoyed spending time traveling and shopping with her close circle of friends.  She always had a competitive spirit, which included playing bunco for over 40 years and scrabble with her sister-in-law, Mary Lee. Later in life, Judy enjoyed spending time at the Hernando VFW with Bobby, a retired military veteran, where she became an avid shuffleboard player.  After Bobby taught her how to crappie fish, she spent countless hours on the lake.  She always seemed to bring home the best fish, both in size and number, which she delighted in sharing with her family and friends at fish cookings that will remain unrivaled.

Above all else, she loved the Lord, her family and her friends completely and without reservation.  Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren - who called her “Gee” - were her greatest joys, and she blessed them with unprecedented love and influence.  She was loved beyond measure and her beautiful smile will be greatly missed.

Visitation will be from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 23, 2019 at the Senatobia Church of Christ. Funeral services will be at the church on Friday, May 24, 2019 at 11:00 a.m., with burial in Bethesda Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Senatobia Church of Christ or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Pate-Jones Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
