Robert Boyd Obituary

Robert Boyd, 83, of Strayhorn,  MS passed away September 19, 2019 at Baptist Desoto Hospital. He was a cosmetologist who owned several of the largest beauty salons in Memphis in the 1960's. He opened New Cut Salon in Olive Branch in 1995 and it is still in business today. He was an avid horse enthusiast and trader. He operated West Shelby Saddle Club in Memphis in the late 1960's. In the 1980's, along with his brother Miles, they were better known as The Boyd Brother's, where they bought and sold some of the nicest horses in the country. Upon moving to Strayhorn in 2004 he started Strayhorn Cutting Horse Association. Mr. Boyd was also a general sales manager for Sturman Ford for several years and retired as general sales manager from Chuck Hutton in 2004. He currently was working for Extreme Auto Sales in Senatobia. He loved his family and horses more than anything. He is survived by his wife, Susan Rowe Boyd of Strayhorn, MS; daughters, Robin Boyd Clem (Stan) of Strayhorn, MS and Whitney Boyd Jackson (Jason) of Coldwater, MS; and grandchildren, Catee Clem, Boyd Clem, Sarah Holmes and Suzy Holmes. He was preceded in death by his parents, Miles and Ina Boyd; adopted son, Dennis McDaniel and brothers, Miles E. Boyd, Jr. and Van Lee Boyd.
