Ailene Rowe McKinnon

Ailene Rowe McKinnon passed away April 6, 2022 in Senatobia, MS. Born January 18, 1927 in Strayhorn, MS, she attended Strayhorn Elementary and graduated Tate County Agricultural High School in 1945. She was baptized at Evansville Baptist Church in 1937.

She was employed by the William Carter Company for 44 years beginning in 1954. 

Ailene is survived by her daughter Cynthia McKinnon Benitone, her son Derek McKinnon, grandchildren Cyp, Kate, Mitchell and Sam.

She is preceded in death by her husband Kenneth McKinnon, and her two sisters Connie and Betty, her son Kenneth McKinnon Jr, and her grandson Tyler McKinnon.

Ailene was an excellent seamstress who tailored many of her family’s clothing, in addition to countless prom dresses throughout the community. Among her favorite things were a cold Coca-Cola every afternoon, her companion dogs, her Oldsmobile Ninety-Eight and listening to Charley Pride. However, she would say that her most beloved treasures were her children and grandchildren.

Though her demeanor was shy and reserved, Ailene demonstrated her deep sense of faith through living a life of quiet generosity.

Visitation will be held at Pate Jones Funeral Home in Senatobia, Thursday, April 14, 4pm to 6pm.
Memorials can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
