Betty Arnold Loftiss Obituary

Betty Jean Arnold Loftiss, 87 of Coldwater, MS. passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 24, 2025, at her residence. Betty is survived by her husband of 68 years, John Perry Loftiss, Sr. She also leaves behind two children: son, John Perry Loftiss, Jr. and daughter, Cindy Jean Loftiss Hart (Derrell). She had five grandchildren: Megan Elizabeth Loftiss Carter (Brian), Nina Katherine Loftiss Butler (William), John Perry Loftiss, III, Derrell DeWayne Hart, Jr. (Hannah), and Christy Jean Hart Kains (Philip) along with four great-grandchildren: Ellington Grace Carter, Elliot Glenn Carter, Margaret Mack Butler and Harrison DeWayne Hart.

She was preceded in death by her parents; John Paul and Evelyn Jean Key Arnold; one brother, Marion Hardin Arnold and one sister, Elizabeth Irene Arnold Beal.

Betty was known to have a “green thumb” and spent many hours tending her African Violets and many other flowers. She was also an excellent seamstress having worked for a bridal boutique in Memphis, TN. She had a passion for genealogy and was instrumental in compiling the Burford Family History book published in 1997. But even more than genealogy, Betty loved her Atlanta Braves baseball team. Each Spring she could be found glued to the TV watching her favorite team.

She was a longtime member of First Baptist Church Senatobia. Her favorite Bible verse was John 3:16 and she loved the hymn “In the Garden.”
