Bobby Payne, 83, of Senatobia, MS passed away at his residence on December 30, 2023. Bobby graduated from Senatobia High School, Northwest Mississippi Community College and Delta State University. He played football at all three schools and was a member of the Northwest Championship Football game in 1960. He proudly served in the National Guard. Bobby held a private pilot’s license and built and flew model airplanes as a hobby. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and loved collecting trains.
He is survived by his wife, Janice Hopper Payne of Senatobia; daughters, Sherry Payne and Stacie Payne, both of Senatobia; son, Steve Payne (Bobbie) of Independence; stepson, Tommy Hopper of Daphne, AL; grandchildren, Jeep Sinquefield, Stephen Sinquefield, Samantha Wood Webb, Mallory Payne Steinman, and Hunter Payne; and 12 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Mary Payne; sisters, Barbara Jean Pickle and Margaret Edna Canestrari; brother, Billy Payne; and grandson, Jackson Payne.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be sent to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
Pallbearers for the service will be Steve Payne, Jeep Sinquefield, Stephen Sinquefield, Hunter Payne, Cliff Payne, Victor Byrd, Rusty Clark, and Ronnie Clark. Honorary pallbearers will be Bob Chambless, Pat Chambless, Ernie Brents, Jimmy Brents, Ike Taylor, Lynn White, Ed Ferguson, Mike Samson, Jim Johnson, Jim Hood, Roy Wooten, and Peter Dulaney.
