Charles E. Hood, 87, of Independence, MS passed away Wednesday, May 5, 2021. He retired after 20 years of service in the Navy and was a Mason. He is survived by his wife of 16 years, Nettie Hood of Independence, MS; daughters, Sharon Latinik (Walter) of Wake Forest, NC and Janet Geeslin of Corinth, MS; son, Tommy Griffith (Tina) of Independence, MS; stepdaughters, Kayla Osborne (Adam) of Hernando, MS and Kimberly Johnson (Jeff) of Independence, MS; stepson, Keith Meredith of Independence, MS; grandchildren, Carly Nickels, Katie Nickels, Lacey Nickels, Jacob Latinik, Noah P. Geeslin, Ryan Griffith, Haley Massey, Stevie Williams, Seth Johnson, Shannon Crabb, Sean Carlisle, Carter Osborne, Chris Meredith, Cameron Meredith, Cody Meredith, and Colton Meredith and 13 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Glenda Hood; sister, Betty Hoosier and brothers, Jimmy Hood and Gene Hood.
