Edie M. Smith Obituary

On October 17, 2025, Heaven welcomed a beautiful soul as Edith “Edie” Smith, age 71, went to be with the Lord.

Born in Memphis, TN, to the late Robert and Marie (Vella) Marchetti, Edie grew up surrounded by family and faith. She graduated from East High and went on to earn her certificate from Methodist School of Radiologic and Imaging Sciences and later became a licensed mammographer, beginning a lifelong calling to serve others through healthcare.

Edie’s greatest joy, however, was her family. She was the beloved wife of fifty-two years to James “Jim” Smith, with whom she shared a life rich in love, faith, and service. She was a loving sister to Tina (Quin) Berry, a devoted mother to Candi (Blake) Graves and Christina (Jeff) Albritton, a proud grandmother to Ashlyn (Cole), Drew, Baylor (Hallee), Jake (Reagan), Raley, Lily, and Annie, and a doting great-grandmother to Waylon and Nina. She was also a cherished aunt, great-aunt, cousin, and friend to many. Her home was a place where family and friends gathered to share meals, stories, and the kind of love that lingers for generations.

A devoted member of First Baptist Church of Senatobia, Edie lived out her faith by answering the call to help others. She offered comfort and hope while serving multiple deployments with the Southern Baptist Convention Disaster Relief and Samaritan’s Purse. Closer to home, she volunteered weekly at the local Pregnancy Center, and shared her love for the outdoors through the Tate County Master Gardeners, where she previously served as President.

A Celebration of Edie’s Life will be held on Monday, October 27, 2025, at First Baptist Church in Senatobia, Mississippi. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., with the service to follow at 11:00 a.m.

The family kindly requests memorial donations be directed to Southern Baptist Disaster Relief Fund at First Baptist Church of Senatobia. Your generosity will help carry on her legacy and support a cause close to her and Jim’s hearts.
