Fred Smith

Fred Smith, 70, of Independence, MS passed away Saturday, August 19, 2023 at his residence. He was a Career Navy Veteran of 22 years, who retired as HMCS E8. Fred enjoyed fishing and working on computers. Above all, he loved his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Nancy Smith; daughter, Melissa Wallace (Stephen); son, Cody Smith (Amanda); brother, Tim Smith (Debbie); step-brothers, Ronnie Mascroft and Mark Mascroft, and grandchildren, Nathan Wallace (Anna), Jennifer Jones, Kristina Smith, Hunter Haven, Matthew Haven, Johnny Smith, Olivia Smith, and Alyssa Smith. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ellery and Jimmie Lou Smith and step-sister, Tanya Mascroft. Fred was a member of Bett Baptist Church. Memorials may be sent to Mt. Zion Cemetery.
