George V. McDonald

George V. McDonald, 77, of Hernando, MS passed away on Wednesday, February 18, 2026. He was born on April 22, 1948, in Jackson, MS to the late Harold Rhodes McDonald, Sr. and Annie Kate McDonald. George graduated from Forest Hill High School in 1966. He went on to attend Mississippi State University where he obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree in Personnel Management in 1970. On September 21, 1985, he married Mollie Roan. George retired from the insurance industry after a successful 40-year career. He was an avid sportsman, enjoying hunting and fishing. George often traveled to Wyoming. He loved listening to gospel music and taking pictures. George was a big Mississippi State fan. Above all, he enjoyed spending time with his family. George was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend. George is survived by his wife of 40 years, Mollie Roan McDonald; children, Lauren Kelly Dugard (Chad) and Katie Walters McIlwain (Austin); brother, Jerry McDonald (Ann); sister-in-law, Linda McDonald, and grandchildren, George, Wyatt, Annie Kate, Carter, Taylor, and Sawyer Kate. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Harold Rhodes McDonald, Jr.
