George Wesley Williams, 77, of Thyatira, MS passed away Friday, February 14, 2020 at his residence. He was a devoted member of Thyatira Church of Christ where he served as a deacon, elder, and bible class teacher. George was a retired dean and professor at Southwest Tennessee Community College as well as a cattle rancher. He was a graduate of Northwest Mississippi Community College, Mississippi State University and the University of Alabama. He was a member of Tau Beta Pi, the Mississippi State University Bulldog Club, American Institute of Chemical Engineers and the Mississippi Cattleman’s Association. George is survived by his wife of 52 years, Sylvia S. Williams of Thyatira, MS; daughter, Leslie W. Wood (Joe) of Starkville, MS; son, Brian T. Williams (Kristy) of Hernando, MS; sister, Frances W. Langston of Bartlett, TN; grandchildren, Katie Spring (Brett), Jacob Wood, Anna Paige Williams, Wesley Williams and Tyler Williams; niece, Paula Hooper and nephew, Jimmy Langston (Carol). He was preceded in death by his parents, Wesley and Alice Williams and sisters, Beatrice Williams and Betty Kay Williams.
