Gerald Wayne Brewer, 78, of Hernando, Mississippi, passed away on January 28, 2026, at Baptist DeSoto Hospital in Southaven, Mississippi.
Born on March 1, 1947, in Crockett, Mississippi, Gerald (Jerry) was raised with a strong sense of responsibility and pride-qualities that defined his life and guided his decisions. As a young man, he answered the call to serve his country by joining the United States Air Force, where he served honorably for 20 years. Much of his military career was spent in San Antonio, Texas, at Randolph Air Force Base. He volunteered at American Legion Post 667 in Universal City, TX and had many friends there.
Following his retirement from the Air Force, Jerry remained in San Antonio and continued his dedication to public service through a career with the United States Postal Service, from which he retired after 10 years.
Above all else, Jerry loved his family, especially his children and grandchildren. He moved to Hernando, Mississippi to be closer to his grandchildren, and he showed his love through his actions by being present, dependable, and unwaveringly supportive. His family always knew they could count on him, no matter the circumstance
Jerry is survived by his children, Robert Wayne Brewer, Angie Marie Jones (Jamey), and Kenneth Ray Brewer, and his seven grandchildren, Cody, Chris, Zack, Jackson, Jake, Julia, and John. He is also lovingly remembered by his former spouse, Elane Walls, and his siblings, Gladys Dixon White and Ronnie Brewer.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Mable Brewer, his sisters, Martha Ann and Louise; and his brothers, Bo, Herbert Jr., Thomas, and Floyd.
A memorial service and visitation will be held on Saturday. January 31st with visitation at 1:00pm and memorial service beginning at 2:00 pm at Pate-Jones Funeral Home, with burial at Crockett Cemetery in Crockett, Mississippi
