Geraldine Burford Price

Geraldine Burford was born August 28, 1928 in Independence, Mississippi, the daughter of Roger W. and Christine Lewis Burford. She grew up on a farm in Independence with her two younger brothers, Roger L. and Kenneth, and attended school in Independence.  

Towards the end of the Second World War, Geraldine met and married James W (Billy) Price.  Together, they raised 5 children while living in Independence and other interesting towns as Billy was transferred through work around the country.  They lived in Illinois, Texas, Louisiana and finally returned to Mississippi in 1994.  Billy died in 1998 and Geraldine continued to reside in Independence for the remainder of her life. She loved tending to her yard, flowers and garden.  Geraldine liked playing games with her family late into the night and watching British mysteries on TV.  She enjoyed traveling by train to visit her children and grandchildren who had moved throughout the country.  

Geraldine was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother who will be deeply missed. She is survived by her two daughters, Celeste Vizina and Sharon Abrantes; three sons, James Randall Price, William Toby Price and Robert Kirk Price (Tracey). As well as 9 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and 4 great great grandchildren.

Geraldine was preceded in death by her parents, brothers and husband.
