Harry Boyd House Jr. Obituary

Harry Boyd House, Jr., 76, of Arkabutla, MS, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by family, on June 24, 2026.

Harry was born in Memphis, TN, on March 28, 1950, to Harry Boyd House, Sr. and Verlie Fisher House. At the age of five, his family settled in Arkabutla, where he would spend the rest of his life. He grew up alongside two older sisters, Verlie Boyde House Baker and Beth House Baker, and one younger sister, Lucille “Lucy” House Anderson.

He graduated from Senatobia High School in 1968 and went on to attend Northwest Community College and Mississippi State University. Harry married Jennifer “Sissy” Hawkins, in August of 1975, and the two had just celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. He was the proud father of two children, Jennifer and Harry Boyd “Beau” House III, and the devoted grandfather of Harry Boyd House IV, who came into the world in 2012 and brought him immeasurable joy.

Harry was a water system operator for many years and proudly served as a board member of Tallahatchie Valley Electric Power Association for 40 years- a role he genuinely enjoyed. He was also a lifelong member of Arkabutla Baptist Church and a former deacon, a faith that anchored everything he did.

While he was a devoted husband, father, and man of faith, everyone who knew Harry knew that his great passion was Veazey-Smith Hunting Camp. For decades, he ran the camp alongside his close friend Frank Canada. From grocery shopping to clearing roads to planting food plots, he poured himself into every detail of preparing for deer season, and he loved every minute of it. Harry may not have been a big conversationalist, but when he spoke, you’d be wise to listen — because it was either something very important or very funny. His family would not have traded him for anything in the world, and they will miss him every single day.

Harry was also loved by the family dog, Buster, who could often be found curled up in his lap.

He was preceded in death by his father, Harry Boyd House, Sr.; his mother, Verlie Fisher House; and his sisters, Verlie Boyde House Baker and Beth House Baker.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Jennifer “Sissy” Hawkins House; his daughter, Jennifer House; his son, Harry Boyd “Beau” House III and wife Rossi; his grandson, Harry Boyd House IV; and his sister, Lucille “Lucy” House Anderson and husband Terry.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 28, from 4:00 to 6:00 PM at Pate Jones Funeral Home in Senatobia, MS. A graveside service will follow on Monday, June 29, at 10:00 AM at Singleton Springs Cemetery.
