Jimmy Glosson Obituary

Jimmy Glosson, often referred to as Jimmy Glosson Sr., closed his eyes on May 5, 2025, and woke up in the presence of Jesus and many loved ones, celebrating his homecoming. He was born on December 6, 1941, to James Louis Glosson and Zelma Marie Markcum. Jimmy was the youngest of seven children and spent his childhood between Crenshaw, Mississippi; Homestead, Florida; and southwestern Michigan, where his family farmed various seasonal crops year-round.

Enamored with cars and trucks from an early age, he became a truck driver, driving for several companies, most notably Kimberly Clark, over a career that spanned almost 50 years. He drove seven million miles (accident-free) and traveled through 47 states. Despite his affinity for the open road, Jimmy became a family man.  He married Patsy Marie Oaks, with whom he spent nearly 43 years, raising their six children in a blended family in Memphis, TN: Cynthia Dancy, Robert Cummins, Ricky Glosson, Jimmy Alan Glosson, Katina Renee Núñez Glosson, and Faith Coleman.

After being called into the ministry, Jimmy became a licensed minister with the Church of God (Cleveland, TN). He served as an evangelist and later as pastor at Georgian Hills Church of God, Church of Deliverance Church of God, and Hernando Church of God.

He is survived by his six children, twelve grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren, as well as a very special brother, James Glosson. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Pat Glosson; his parents; his son, Keith Glosson; five siblings; and one grandson.  He will be remembered for his soft-spoken nature outside of church and his thunderous zeal in the pulpit, his love for all things John Wayne, and his dedication to his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
