Kathryn "Kathy" Sims

Kathryn (Kathy) Burke Sims, 73, of Senatobia, MS, wife of Don Sims, passed away on June 14th, 2023.

Kathy was born on March 7, 1950, to Corry and Kathryn Burke in Atlanta, GA. Kathy was the middle child, looking up to big sister and life-long best friend, Patsy, and always looking out for her little brother, James. After Kathy graduated from high school, she went on to work for multiple airlines and was proudly one of the first females to work on the ramp. Kathy held many various positions with the airline in Atlanta, Miami, and Ft. Lauderdale . 

In 1976 Kathy met Don when both were employed in the Miami airport. They were married in 1977 and moved to Atlanta, where sons Cory and James were born. The family moved to Senatobia in 1985. Kathy was immensely proud of her sons and was their biggest cheerleader from Little League to college sports to law school graduations. Between her boys, Kathy was blessed with 7 grandchildren. Kathy was proud to be an integral part of her grandchildren’s lives. Migi was always there for every event and even just to babysit!

In 2012, Kathy retired from a long second career as a mail carrier in Senatobia. She enjoyed her retirement spending time with her grandchildren, traveling to see family, shopping, and working out.

Kathy was always laughing and causing trouble in the best way. Her smile always lit up the room and her laughter could be heard echoing through the house. She loved nothing more than scoring the best deal at the thrift shops with Patsy!

Kathy was preceded in death by her father, mother, dear sister Patsy Alsabrook, and brother-in-law Harvey Alsabrook. Kathy is survived by husband Don, brother James (Jeannie), sons Cory (Sarah Kate) and James (Anna), stepson Donnie (Candace), nephew Brian Rountree (Kim), as well as 7 grandchildren, who were the lights of her life.

Following cremation, a memorial service will be held at the Church of Christ in Senatobia, MS, on Tuesday June 27, at 6pm.
