Lee P DeVore was born November 26, 1936 in Randoph, Kentucky to Mr. Clyde DeVore Sr and Mrs. Julia Whitlow DeVore. Lee was a member of the United States Army from 1954 to 1957. Lee married Linda Dawson DeVore November 1, 1959. They had two sons, Doug DeVore and Jeff DeVore.
Lee was a driver for UPS for 15 years. He then became an owner/operator for Cedar Rapids Steel Transportation for 12 years. He later drove a motor coach for Peoria Charter for 16 years. Lee retired in 2001 and moved with his wife to Senatobia, Mississippi, where he drove a school bus for children with special needs for the Tate County School District.
Lee & Linda were members of Highland Baptist Church, where they enjoyed a wonderful church family. Lee was a regular volunteer for his church and enjoyed participating in the yearly Christmas play.
Lee is preceded in death by his parents, Clyde & Julia DeVore; his brother Clyde DeVore Jr, his sister Barbara Lay; and his daughter-in-law, Donna DeVore.
Lee is survived by his devoted wife of 65 years, Linda; his sons, Doug (Alisa) & Jeff; his siblings James DeVore, Jerrie Byrd, Larry DeVore, & Laura Faulkner (Roger). Lee also leaves behind seven grandchildren: Pam Medders, Shannon Cokel (Brett), Deborah Chatham, Jeffrey DeVore, Amanda DeVore (Lis), Anthony DeVore, Jessika DeVore (Travis), and Rebekah DeVore. Lee’s legacy will live on through his many great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Services for Mr. Lee DeVore will be held at Highland Baptist Church. Visitation begins at 10:00am, with a celebration of life to follow at 11:00am. Flowers and donations can be sent to Highland Baptist Church in Mr. Lee’s name.
