Mother Leslie T. Irby was born on April 26, 1928 to the late Cleveland and Wordna Tate. Mother Leslie accepted Christ at an early age. She attended and was an active member at Ella Green Missionary Baptist Church where she was on the Mother’s Board until services at the church were restricted due to Covid-19 in March 2020. She was an active member of HEROINES OF JERICHO. Leslie married Jack Irby on October 1, 1945. Leslie and Jack remained married until his death, December 12, 1994. Mother Leslie Tate Irby, 92, of Coldwater, MS passed away peacefully at her home on March 19, 2021 surrounded by 5 of her 8 children and daughter-in-law, Shawana. She is survived by her daughters, Maude E. Bady of Coldwater, Virgie Ann Warren (Freddie) of Memphis, Bettie Ann Irby of Coldwater and Lucille Irby Richardson (Richard) of Memphis; son, Melvin Irby (Shawana) of Coldwater; stepdaughter, Ethel Johnson; brother, Earl Tate (Maria) of Colorado; 13 grandchildren, Vera, Tabatha, Maurice Jr., Wordna, Fredrick, Daniel, April, Andrea, Brandon, Eddie, Markirby, Shaveva, and Leslie Jean; 32 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Irby; daughter, Virginia Irby Johnson; stepdaughters, Doretha Tate and Ruby Oliver; sons, Eddie L. Tate and Cersy Irby; sisters, Sevella Jamison and Wilma Lorine Austin and grandchildren, Brian and Tony.
