Lester “Les” Dicken, 91, of Senatobia, MS passed away May 29, 2020 at Mississippi State Veteran’s Home Oxford. He graduated in 1947 from DuPont Manuel High School in Louisville, KY. On October 7, 1950, he entered the U.S. Navy transferring shortly thereafter to the U.S. Marines as a Hospital Corpsman. He served in the Korean War, Korean Theater of Operations, from November 1952 to November 1953, earning an Honorable Discharge. In 1955, Les attended the University of Louisville, majoring in Pre-pharmacy. In 1959, he graduated from the University of Kentucky, earning a B.S. in Pharmacy. Les practiced pharmacy for 60 years. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Margaret Dicken of Senatobia, MS; daughters, Lynn Kemp (Tim) of Scottsdale, AZ and Susan Dicken of Senatobia, MS; son, Stanley Dicken of Arkabutla, MS; grandchildren, Christine Elizabeth, Edward Austin and John Stuart and great grandchildren, Haven Gail, Aaliyah and Lola. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Lillian Dicken. Memorials may be sent to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital or First United Methodist Church Senatobia where he was a member.
Services will be held Sunday, May 31, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at First United Methodist Church Senatobia. Burial will follow in Senatobia Memorial Cemetery. Services can be attended inside the Sanctuary of the church up to 50 people. There will also be an audio broadcast (107.5 FM) in the church parking lot as well as live streamed on the church website, Facebook page or You tube.
