He is survived by his wife, Jeanette Shirley of Poagville, MS; son, Bill Shirley of Poagville, MS; sisters, Edith Floate of Coldwater, MS, Connie Caffey of Truslow, MS, Carla McCarter (Corey) of Como, MS, Judy Sullivan of Como, MS, and Tammy Botto of Lake Tahoe, CA; brothers, Joe Shirley of Sarah, MS and Travis Shirley of St. Louis, MO; grandchildren, Sara Elisabeth Shirley, Etta Grace Shirley, Brandon Louis Shirley, and Anna Cathryn Shirley, and great grandchild, Josie Jeffords. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Earlene Shirley and brothers, Morris Shirley, William Merl Shirley, Brooks Shirley, and David Shirley.
