Lurlene O. Willhite

 Lurlene O. Willhite, 83, of Independence, MS departed this life on January 10, 2022 at 12:41 pm at Baptist Memorial Hospital DeSoto. She was born June 19, 1938 to Floyd and Ilene Oglesby and was the oldest of 8 children. On July 7, 1956 she married Earl George Willhite. Lurlene is survived by her husband of 65 years; children, Bobby Earl Willhite (Shirley) and Betty Gail Jones; grandchildren, Nathan Jones and Kim Willhite Scott; 4 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; sisters, Maxine Oglesby Scruggs, Carrol Oglesby Harris, Geraldine Oglesby Lester, and Brenda Oglesby Jones (Bobby) and brothers, Freddie Oglesby (Carolyn), Eddie Oglesby (Theresa) and Rex Oglesby (Carol); and many nieces and nephews who loved her dearly. She was preceded in death by her parents. Lurlene was a faithful member of Thyatira Church of Christ. She was a beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother, “Aunt Leen”, our matriarch and our best friend. Oh how we will miss her until we meet again on that beautiful shore…
