Lynn Long Massey, a devoted mother, grandmother, passed away peacefully on May 1, 2025, at the age of 82. Born on May 26, 1942, in Askew, Mississippi, Lynn lived a life full of service, love, and laughter.
Lynn dedicated much of her career to public service, serving as the City Clerk of Senatobia for 14 years. She also worked as a secretary for Tunica County Schools before retiring from the State of Mississippi. Never one to sit still, she later joined FedEx, where she worked until her final retirement in 2010.
Lynn was a woman of strong faith who deeply loved God, her family, and football. She had a joyfully contagious laugh and a smile that could light up any room. Her warmth, humor, and unwavering love will be remembered by all who knew her.
She is survived by her loving daughter, Gretchen McGhee; her cherished granddaughters, DeAnna Jones, Samantha Cargile, and Scottye Hamilton; and her great-grandchildren, Landon Rines, Emily Jones, and Jordan Jones. Lynn is preceded in death by her parents, M.C. and Opal Long; her sister, Connie O’Neal; and her best friend, Sonny Massey.
Lynn’s life was a testament to strength, grace, and the beauty of Southern hospitality. Her memory will live on in the hearts of those she loved so dearly.
