O.L. Umberger

Otis (O.L.) Umberger, 90, of Coldwater, MS passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on December 27, 2021. 

He was a founding and faithful member of Stillwaters Church in Senatobia, MS. O.L. was a man loved and respected by all who knew him. His humble, unassuming character made him a pillar of both his natural and his church family and he will be greatly missed by all.

O.L. served in the U.S. Army 20th Transportation Trucking Co. during the Korean War 1952-1954 as a Staff SRGT. He participated in the communist prisoner repatriation in Korea in 1954. His unit, the 20th Transportation Co., was awarded a Citation of Excellence as the best company in the operation.

Employed by Beezley Service, Inc. Memphis, TN, working there 48 years, retiring in 2000.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Kathryn Umberger of Coldwater, MS; 4 sons, Steve Douglas (Liz), Phillip Umberger (Patricia), Johnny Umberger (Sandra), and Paul Umberger (Tina); grandchildren, Shannon, Joshua (Brandy), Daniel (Rebecca), Rebekah (T.J), Sharon, and Jason; great grandchildren, Courtney, Dante, Haley (Zack), Logan, Bryce, Ryan, Claire, Grayson, Harrison, Lane, Emma, Maggie Kate, Graham, and Hudson and great great grandson, Forrest. He also leaves behind his brother, Clyde Umberger and sister, Sue Thomas. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Leslie and Bertha Umberger; daughter, Corrine Baylock; brothers, L.B. Umberger, Erzelle Umberger and sister, Marie Crum. 

He was loved by all family and friends.
