Ms. Penny Pennington, 85, passed away on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, in Tunica, MS.
She was born in Tallahatchie County, MS to the late James Laster and Mary Mullis (White). Penny was a homemaker, mother, father, and friend to many. The oldest girl of 10 siblings, she assisted raising children for her whole life and was known by many as the junk/scrap lady.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two daughters, Rita Morrow and Rose Mary Neal; one son, Robert Morrow; two granddaughters, Billie Uselton and Tommi Carrier; grandson, Brian Riley; brothers, Claude Hollins, Leonard Earl Randall, Tommy Laster, Harold Laster, and Edward Laster, and sisters, Helen King, Peggy Wilkinson, and Delois Denley.
Penny is survived by three daughters, Ann Floyd (John) of Pell City, AL, Ethel Lamb (Daniel) of Askew, MS, and Teresa Murphy (Dennis) of Coldwater, MS; two sons, Jerry Pennington of MS and James Pennington (Sherry) of Coldwater, MS; one brother, Michael Laster (Reba) of Coffeeville, MS; one sister, Margaret Smith of Millington, TN; one very special niece, Pam O’Neal (Gary) of Strayhorn, MS; 17 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; 7 great great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
