Ralph Edwin Baker, 88, of Cottonville, MS passed away Thursday, March 24, 2022 at Baptist Memorial Hospital North Mississippi.
Ralph was a veteran having served in the United States Navy. He was a mason and retired after 30 years from Delta Airlines. After retirement, he stayed busy serving on the Evansville Cemetery committee. He believed in being punctual making it a practice to always arrive 30 minutes early everywhere he went.
Ralph loved the Lord and would read his Bible every night with his children and wife. He was a true servant to his church, Evansville Baptist Church. He served as a Deacon, Disciple Training Director, Sunday School Director and helped with the nursery. In addition, Ralph always supported missions in his church and various youth groups.
Ralph served on the Tate County Rescue squad and was chief of the Arkabutla Fire Department where he offered CPR classes for the first time.
Ralph enjoyed farming and raising cattle. He also loved having a horse in the pasture. His love of horses brought him great joy and multiple opportunities to serve including working with disabled children at Heart’s Desire Therapeutic Riding Center. He also served as President of the Eudora Saddle Club and the Strayhorn Saddle Club. His true love was spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Corine McMaster Baker; daughters, Lynn Still (Jimmy) and Nancy Lance (Butch); sons, Nelson Baker (Debbie) and Will Baker; sister, Martha McKay; brother, James Lee Baker; grandchildren, Jamie Freeman (Jody), Julie Jeffreys (Andrew), Lacey Thompson (Jonathan), Levi Lance (Lindsey), Nelson Baker II, Austin Baker (Lauren), Ethan Baker (Catheryne), and Tyler Baker and great grandchildren, Hayes Freeman, Jake Freeman, Lucy Freeman, Whit Jeffreys, Charlotte Jeffreys, Lance Dees, Wyatt Lance, Tate Lance, Sara Grace Lance, Emilyn Lance, Kylie Lance, Hudson Baker and Cooper Baker. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jimmy and Pheriba Baker; brothers, Billy Baker and Jerry Baker and grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Lee Baker and Mr. and Mrs. Ed Savage.
