Robert "Bob" Foughty Jr. Obituary

Robert L. Foughty Jr. “Bob” or “Bobby”, was born on July 31st, 1959 in Nelsonville, Ohio. He was born to Gloria Foughty and Robert L. Foughty Sr. Bobby was a unique child, always carrying around his bible. He attended Morgan High School in McConnelsville, Ohio, where he played basketball.

After graduation, he attended Seminary at Kentucky Christian College. He also served as a youth minister at Stockport Church of Christ. He moved with his family to Senatobia, MS in the early 1980’s. He worked at the Exxon station in Senatobia, where he, by chance, met his wife, Donna Jo Foughty (Embrey), and his son, Michael Davis. They married in 1985. They welcomed a daughter, Courtney, in 1986. Robert later worked alongside his father at Smith Wood Products in Como, MS. In 1998, he took a job at Carlisle Syntec, Inc. in Senatobia, where he made many friends over the last 20 years.

Bobby enjoyed many activities, including reading, playing golf, playing chess, playing his guitar, spending time with family, and watching movies at Tobie Cinemas in Senatobia, MS. He spent many years being involved with the Independence High School Chess Club. Even when he stood on the sidelines, he encouraged every single player. He wanted everyone to feel supported, even if their parents couldn’t be there. He had unshakeable confidence in those he cared about. He was convinced that his daughter was the smartest nurse, his son was a musical prodigy, and that each of his grandchildren would eventually go to the Olympics.

Bob was an encourager. He loved to laugh and make others laugh. He was always kind, even if he didn’t share your views. He never met a person that he couldn’t talk to. He was never afraid to let anyone know about his love for the Lord. He wanted people to see what a true Christian really was; not a judgmental personality, but one who sees past faults and loves and supports you, anyway. He was a member of Crossbridge Christian Church.

Bob passed away from complications of vasculitis at Baptist East on Oct. 14th, 2019 with his daughter at his side. He is preceded in death by his wife, Donna Jo, and his grandparents, William & Elizabeth Foughty, William & Frances Walton, and many aunts and uncles. He is survived by his daughter: Courtney McMullen (Harvey); his son: Michael Davis (Kim); grandchildren: Hunter McMullen, Jayden McMullen, Clayton McMullen, Andrew Rasdall, Cera Jo Davis, and Maddison Davis; his mother: Gloria Foughty; his father: Robert L. Foughty Sr. (Gail); his sisters: Beth Embrey and Becca Guerra (Arnie); his brothers: Brett Foughty, Charles Foughty, and Jamison Miller; his nieces: Karli Webb (Michael), Taylor Faircloth (Ricky), and Kaitlyn Kicklighter; his nephews: Steven Konkler (Amber), Robert Thompson, Ben Thompson (Courtney), Brett Adam Foughty, Logan Foughty (Meghan); great nephews: Steven Michael Webb, Bentley Webb, Killian Konkler, Riyot Foughty, Evan Faircloth, and Mason Faircloth; great nieces: Savannah Thompson, Peyton Thompson, Ava Foughty, Emma Foughty, Miyah De Leon, and Peyzli Foughty; and many cousins. The light he shed on others in this world will be dearly missed by all, but never forgotten.
