Robert Ira Stroupe, Sr., 85, of Senatobia, MS passed away July 22, 2022 at the Ellison of Oxford.
Ira, as he was known throughout his life, was born in Grand Junction, TN. His family moved to Senatobia while Ira was in high school. There he met and later married his high school sweetheart, Annette Wilborn. They remained together for over 64 years.
Ira held several titles throughout his life. He was an athlete in high school, he was a member of the Mississippi National Guard during his time at NWCC, and he was a salesman with Ideal Chemical & Supply for 39 ½ years. But, over his lifetime he was a dedicated golfer who played in many tournaments, fixed golf clubs as a hobby, and had several holes-in-one. In addition, he enjoyed working crossword puzzles. Ira cherished the time spent with family, especially with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He is survived by his daughter, Julianna Stroupe Davis (Dale) of Oxford, MS; son, Robert Ira Stroupe, Jr. (Ella) of Houston, TX; 5 grandchildren: Jewel Lincoln (William), Jacki Stroupe, Robert Ira Stroupe III, Kendal Davis, Corporal Ian Davis, USMC, and 3 great grandchildren: Aurora, Sam and Kate. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Annette; parents, Mary Irene Watts and M.H. Stroupe; sister, Mary Claire Puryear (Harry) and brothers, M.H. Stroupe, Jr. (Jerry), James Stroupe (Helen), Frank Watts Stroupe and George Kenneth Stroupe. He will be greatly missed by his family.
