Ronald "Ron" Edward Hawkins, 71, passed away on July 21st, 2023 after a valiant battle with cancer.
Ronald was born to Frances Sowell Berry and Willie Mailey Hawkins on on December 9th, 1951 alongside twin brother Donald in Coldwater, MS. After graduating from Independence High School and attending Northwest Community College, Ron enlisted in the Army and headed to basic training at Fork Polk in Louisiana. He served in various locations state side and abroad, for 9 years, before returning to civilian life. Ron moved to Huntsville, AL, raising his two beloved children, Andrew and Christina and working as an electronic repair technician for SCI/Sanmina. After 36 years of service, Ron retired and was ready to return home to Coldwater. He headed back here to the rolling green hills of his family’s land, ready to spend his days outside in the garden, tinkering with machines, and helping friends and neighbors however he could. Ron passed too soon, and he will be deeply missed by family, friends, and all who knew him.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents, Frances Berry and Willie Hawkins. He is survived by his two children, Andrew Hawkins (Alexandra) of Atlanta Christina Cox (Shawn) of Auburn; grandchildren Bentley and Noah Cox; brother Donald Hawkins (Paula) of Coldwater; niece Shelly Scott (Jeff) and nephew Brad Hawkins (Meagan), his stepfather Billy Berry, his loving partner Deborah Johnson, and a list of cousins too long to count!
A service of death and resurrection is scheduled for 10am on Thursday July 27th at Palestine Methodist Church where he was a member. Flowers can be sent to the Pate-Jones funeral home.
