Ruby Fay Woolfolk Yount, 80, of Hernando, MS passed away Tuesday, March 5, 2024, due to complications from a massive stroke. She is the daughter of W.E. Woolfolk (Booster) and Eva Whitsell Woolfolk. Ruby Fay graduated from Senatobia High School with a strong interest in bookkeeping and clerical work.
Ruby Fay worked many types of jobs throughout her life. She worked as a salesclerk, clerical secretary, and home healthcare for the elderly.
One would find Ruby Fay listening and singing to Conway Twitty and other great country artists. Another hobby of hers was bowling. She was even a member of a bowling league. She was an avid genealogist, finding relatives dating back to Queen Ester.
Ruby Fay also enjoyed singing the hymns and studying the scriptures. She is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and has served in many positions. These positions included the Relief Society, which is the women’s organization, Primary, and Young Women.
With all her interests and hobbies, nothing was greater than being called Mamaw. Ruby Fay loved cooking and baking for her grandchildren and great grandchildren. They loved coming over to visit and playing board games.
She is survived by her daughter, Julia Faye Purser (Ray) of Hernando, MS; son, James H. Purser Jr. (Suzette) of Batesville, MS; brother, William E. Woolfolk (Star) of Jacksonville, FL; 9 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren.
She was proceeded in death by her husband Cecil “Buddy” Yount; daughter, Jamie Ann Purser; parents, Booster and Eva Woolfolk; sister, Nancy Barnes; brother, David Woolfolk; 1 grandchild and 2 great grandchildren.
