Sonia Martinez Hayes

Sonia Martinez Hayes, 92, of Hernando, formerly of Senatobia, MS, passed away Friday, May 9, 2025. She was a teacher at Oxford High School, Senatobia High School, and Northwest Mississippi Community College. Over the years, she taught English, Spanish, and History. Sonia loved to work in the yard and was an avid reader. She also enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and running. Sonia was a people person. She loved camping with her husband, Harry. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ramon Alejandro Martinez and Jaunita Sandin Martinez; sister, Awilda Micheo, and brothers, Juan Martinez and Owen Martinez. She is survived by her husband, Harry W. Hayes; daughter, Sonia Young (Les); sons, Kenny Robbins (Janie) and Mark Robbins (Angela); stepdaughter, Tricia Wyatt (Lenny); stepson, Harry Hayes, Jr. (Susan); brother, Hugo Martinez (Dollie); sister-in-law, Nilda Martinez; 10 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to St. Gregory’s Church or Alzheimer’s Association, P.O.
