Sue Whitworth

Sue Whitworth, 91, of Independence, MS, passed away June 4, 2022 at home. She was preceded in death by her husband, James “Whit” Whitworth; daughter, Barbara Shearer and son, Marty Whitworth. She is survived by her daughter, Deitra McLarty; sons, Randy Whitworth (Donna), Tim Whitworth and Gary Whitworth (Sharon) and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. Earlier in life, Sue was a licensed cosmetologist in the State of TN. After having children, she was quite content just doing hair for her family. She was also a very active member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church where she loved teaching Sunday School, singing in the choir and worked as church secretary. Over the years she enjoyed swimming, crocheting, singing, word search puzzles and going out to eat fish which was always her favorite. She worked for a while as a school bus driver, but her lifelong labor of love was raising her 6 children. Memorials may be sent to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
