Wiley Amzy Bouchillon was born on January 7, 1942, to A. W. and Lanelle Bouchillon in Jennings, Louisiana. He was affectionally called “Peck” Junior by his family and friends. When his family moved to Hernando, Mississippi, he made a name for himself. He was the oldest child of four sisters and one brother. When he was 14, he bought a car from a neighbor and hid it from his parents for a month before they realized what had happened. Later he was recognized in the newspaper because he witnessed a bank robbery in Hernando while on his paper route. He wrote the car tag number in the dirt, and the police were able to catch the thieves because of his efforts and quick thinking. At the age of 10, he met the love of his life Nancy Veazey at the Coldwater First Baptist Church in the Junior Sunday School class. They had many dates to the Coldwater Skating Rink. After high school, Peck attended Northwest Community College. He and Nancy Veazey were married in 1963. At the age of 19 he was appointed by Congress to as the first Postmaster of Southaven, Mississippi in April of 1962. The last 3 years of his postal career he was the Postmaster in Senatobia, MS, He worked for the United States Postal Service for 39 years. He was well respected among his peers in the Postal Service. He loved helping people climb the ladder in the Postal Service. After he retired, he worked in Tunica for Battle Arena for 10 years. During this time, he was able to concentrate on his many blessings and began to cherish his church, family and friends even more than he had in the past. After retirement he also explored other passions such as collecting Model T cars, owning a pawn shop, owning an overstock store, caring for miniature donkeys and attending live auctions. He loved working with his son on the farm raising cattle. Peck enjoyed helping others any way that he could because he said he was blessed in so many ways. He was a member of Coldwater Baptist Church where he served as a deacon for many years. Peck is survived by his wife Nancy Veazey Bouchillon, his children Andy Bouchillon, Glynn Bouchillon (Susan), and Gayle Braswell (Brian). He had five grandchildren- Drew Bouchillon, Kim Ryals (Noah), Linlee Ince (Mason), Ben Braswell (Marilee), and Cade Braswell (Kyndal). He also had 4 great grandchildren- Law Ryals, Clark Ryals (to be born this month), Oakes Braswell, and Wiley Ince. Also survived by his siblings Wanda Davis (Sluggo), Barry Bouchillon (Donna), Margaret Frisbee (George), Toni Wise (Bart), and Yonnie Waller (Don). Peck also adored all his nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents A.W. Bouchillon and Lanelle Bouchillon. Memorials may be sent to Coldwater First Baptist Church, P.O.
